Three Things We Sell

Our systems fare very well in the market because:

Our support is unparalleled and we have references to prove it.
Our systems offer great value
We have extensive systems integration experience not limited to just digital video.  This is why other video dealers buy systems from us

"Everything should be as simple as possible, but not simpler." A.Einstein

"You can't have everything" Unknown

  1. Pre-Sale Support - helping customer to choose the best solution for the budget, based on the following key factors:
    · is stable
    · does the job that the customer needs it to do
    · is right for the money
    · can be upgraded to the latest technology as it develops
  2. Professional Integration: Computer designs that are:
Reliable: quality parts from reputable sources, extensive cooling, certification by major standard bodies, compatibility, longevity.  If it still works in 30 years - don't be surprised.
Efficient: systems that make sense.  Nice balance between performance and practicality.  Only industry-standard parts - no proprietary designs.  You will not be locked into just one supplier charging ridiculous prices for a replacement mouse.
Did we say well designed and ergonomic?
  3. After-Sale Support.  A good system should not need much of it, but if it does, we will be there for you.  We are the first point of contact if you have a question or a problem with your system.   We will notify you of software updates, industry news, upcoming events.

Here it comes.  Our mission statement, our family tradition, our principle.  We will not try to sell you what's most profitable for us.  Our existing customers will say so, too.  We will sell you what we are sure is the most practical, expandable, reliable solution out there.

The Why's Of The Systems Integration

Questions?   What is the most adequate system for my project?  What capture card do I buy?   What should be my data rate?  Compression ratio?  Audio card?  Which hard disks are the best?  How much storage do I need?  What's RAID-0 and why do I need it?  Do I need a SCSI controller?  Alpha or Intel?  PC or Mac?  NT, 98 or 2000?  SCSI or UDMA66? or Ultra 160I?  Differential or single-ended?   SCA or SSA? How about SAN, NAS or FC-AL?  What is LVD SCSI?  How long should be the cable?  Does it have "Avid" written on it?   How much power do I need?  DigiSuite, Nitro or Reality?  Or maybe NT Toaster?  Is it really turn-key?  Digital or Analog?  Compressed or Uncompressed?  Lossless or Lossy?  MPEG or MJPEG?  DV or DVCAM?   DVCPro50 or Digital-S?  BetaSP or DigiBeta?  SDI, SDTI or 1394?   ActiveMovie or QuickTime?  Jaz or Zip?   SR or VANT?  SDRAM or EDO?  Xeon or PIII?   Why is my audio hissing and popping?  Can it be cheaper and better?  And faster?  We hear you.

Why Buy From A Systems Integrator And Not From A Box House?

Performance vs. Price.

It is common thinking that it's cheaper to buy from mail-order and box houses instead of from specialized VAR's and SI's (Systems Integrators).   If that was true, why would SI's still be in business?  The job of a good Systems Integrator (GSI) is actually to save money for the customer by choosing the solution that has the best price vs. performance ratio while maintaining quality, reliability, and providing the perfect system for the customer's requirements.

Productivity.  Does a box house care about your productivity?  Will it tell you to buy a less expensive system, even if the one you are considering is overkill for the job?  A VGSI (a Very Good Systems Integrator) spends a considerable amount of time with the customer making sure that their system is suited to his/her needs, much like a good tailor spends the time to custom fit the customer.  A VGSI is in the business of making you more productive, while a box house is not.  (Nothing is wrong with a good box house - it's just a different business.)

Support.  A Systems Integrator is somebody to call first when there is a problem and is in a position to help most, since they know your system better than anybody else and have gathered a good knowledge base about possible problems and ways to solve them.

We divide most system configuration projects into three main parts:

The Application and The NLE Hardware.   Something to capture and/or output your video and something to edit it with.   This is the heart of an NLE system and the configuration must start here, not with the computer.

Storage.  As a widely accepted unofficial rule goes, you'd generally need twice as much hard disk space as it would take for your final video.  And since it is so general, it probably does not 100% apply to you.  Straight cut and real-time editors will need less than 100% overhead, while compositors with heavy layering and effects may need more than "twice the final video" amount of storage.
Ergonomics is a very important matter.  A computer workstation is a professional tool that you are likely to spend a better part of life with, than with your friends, spouse, children or your BMW all together, if you are a (digital) video professional or an animator.  The performance and ease of use of your computer, quality and size of the monitor(s), quality of your mouse - affect how you work and your productivity in a major way.  Choose your computer carefully.

Next is The Storage Subsystem.  How many gigs and how fast should they be.  Questions to ask:  What is the average length of my video projects?  What are the quality requirements?  Do I work on more than one project at a time?  A common "on-line" data rate is 5 to 6MB/s, and at these rates, a 9GB disk fills up in 25-30 minutes.  So for a 25 minutes project, consider about 18GB of storage.

The Computer, that fits the above, with respect to performance and reliability, resourcefulness (those precious PCI slots), ergonomics, future expansion plans.

The rest is nuts and bolts - accessories such as scanners, printers, tape backups, tablets, coffee mugs and mouse pads.  Nothing escapes a good integrator.
